They were incapable of racing or killing the thing. Given this, I should perhaps have been more suspicious of what was to come…įrom watching the stream, it was abundantly clear that putting Daybreak Coronet on a hexproof creature was basically good game against any aggro-based strategy. One of the spectators commented, “casually the nuts, every time.” However, this is the sort of “running good” that some decks need to win tournaments-Infect and Nivmagus decks are good examples.

The guy was an obvious luck sac, which made the deck look super slick. The plan is simple: put auras on a hexproof, unblockable creature and kill your opponent with it. My boyfriend (Matt) likes to watch streamers, and he came across playing “All in Auras.” I don’t know if this was his own brew or something he’d copied, but I had never seen it before, so I assumed it was his. Good news! There is now a Hexproof-Plus-Auras deck in Modern! Hooray! Winning is good and all, but Solitaire is still Solitaire (plus your opponent hates you).

To be honest, once you’ve done it once, it’s not even that much fun to play with. Being killed by Invisible Stalker with a Butcher’s Cleaver attached is not really like playing Magic-it’s more like Solitaire, where you always lose. I think the least popular static ability ever printed (currently seeing play) has got to be hexproof.
